Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for so many new friends that we were able to meet last weekend. Daisy is the white Sibe and Talullah is the Malamute. We were right behind them on the Tahoe Rim Trail. We even got to play with them once we reached the end of our hike.
Look at this adorable six month old GSD. She was a ton of fun.
And here is Daisy the St. Bernard. She was just beautiful.
Milo and I were in love with this white Sibe. We all played together while our pawrents were picnic-ing.
And these sweet, sweet Pit Bulls sisters were amazing. Can you see that the one on the right is missing a leg? He Daddy told us that her back left leg was run over twice and there was no choice put to amputate it. You wouldn't know that she was missing a leg though. She ran up and down the beach and swam like a pro.

Sierra's Scoop

As you may already know, this past weekend we went to our favorite place. Lake Tahoe is so great this time of year for hiking. I'm not a lover of long hikes but I always do my best to keep up. The last time we hiked this trail, Daddy had to carry me for the last one and a half miles due to two broken nails that were not healed enough for a hike like this one.
Once we reached the top of Tahoe Rim Trail, I took a much needed rest in the shade while Teddy Bear went rock climbing and squirrel hunting. I was so exhausted afterwards, I almost slept right through dinner. We had a blast.

Our weekend in Tahoe

was so much fun! We hiked the Tahoe Rim Trail.
Sierra met a beautiful Malamute named Talullah and felt that she had to show her who was boss. What is it with girls?!
Once we got to the top, I began looking for squirrels.
After our hike, we had a picnic at the Lake. Here I am hanging with my favorite Lady.
And with my BFF, Milo.
Can you see my owie? I have a swollen paw pad. We're not sure what it's from...maybe the giant ants that we saw on the hike, or too much rock climbing. I'm taking it easy so I can rest up to go on walkies again. A day without walking is just not fun.

Week thirty one in the garden

A lot of you guessed where I was in yesterday's picture...Lake Tahoe. We had a pawesome weekend at one of my most favorite places. I can't wait to share pictures from our weekend. We got home a little later than usual. It was dark so we will post pictures of our veggie garden tomorrow. We can't wait to catch up on what happened over the weekend in DWB land.

Mommy and Daddy eat salad with dinner every night. Can you believe how fast lettuce grows?
I wonder if our butternut squash is ready to harvest.
Daddy thinks the jalapenos are almost ready.
Our sweet potatoes are doing great!
Here is our winter broccoli.
I'm so ready to eat this watermelon.
We've harvested lots of onion this summer and Daddy is glad to have so much more growing.
And of course, we have lots and lots of tomatoes...gold, red, green.

Not so Fun on a Friday

Look what I saw first thing this morning...the Black Box. Where does Daddy think he's going now? I hope he isn't planning on going to a golf pawty because I am not letting him go!
What are you plans for this weekend?

P.S. Here is the story about the bruise on Mommy's arm. We were on a walkie last Saturday and sometimes I like to go around poles. Usually I am very good about untangling myself. But that day, I saw a Lab puppy. I just had to go say hi to him. So as Mommy was untangling my leash from the stop sign pole, switching the lead from one hand to the next, I started jogging (Mommy would say pulling) toward the Lab puppy. And as a result, I made Mommy scrape her entire arm on against the stop sign pole. But I didn't get in trouble. Mommies are so forgiving that way.

Thankful Thursday

Today I'm thankful that Mommy and Daddy went out to eat with Grandpa, Daddy's Uncle, and Daddy's cousin. They hardly ever go out to eat so we let them go have some fun. The best part about our pawrents going out to eat is that Mommy always remembers to bring us back leftovers. I wonder what could be inside?
Shrimp!!! We scored big time tonight, Sierra! Let's dig in!

Sierra's Scoop

The word of the day today was chocolate. Mommy likes it but Daddy loves it. On nights that Mommy and Daddy do their work out they are both allowed to have special treat. Mommy has Gummy Tummies from Trader Joe's and Daddy has a Ritter Sport. It is Daddy's favorite chocolate treat but for some reason it is hazardous to doggies.
Maybe the word of the day should of been carob.
Carob is like chocolate but it is safe for everyone. Mommy bakes us yummy cookies with carob and sometimes, even gives us a few morsels. Yummy.

Today's we harvested...

Several heirloom tomatoes, two cucumbers, and 1 giant zucchini.
What do you love most about Mondays? I love Mondays because it's a good day to catch up on rest from the weekend.

Week thirty in the garden

Has it really been thirty weeks? Time sure flies when you're having fun. I think Daddy should start a zucchini business. What do you think? I think we've harvested more zucchini than anything else this summer.
We were so happy to see more cucumbers. There was a clog in our drip system and the cucumber plant didn't get watered for two whole days. You can tell from the dry, crunchy looking leaves.
I'm ready for this watermelon to be ready.
Look at how tall one of our heirloom tomato plants has grown.
And we're happy to see lots of tomatoes. They'll start turning a pretty golden/reddish color soon.
Our sweet potatoes are thriving!
Our thyme is definitely trying. We hope it grows and grows so Mommy will have a lot of it to store away for winter.
P.S. Daddy got home before Mommy did today. Daddy and Grandpa had a great weekend away...relaxing, golfing, and eating lots and lots of good food and dessert. I think he forgot my doggy bag. We'll forgive him this time since we were so excited to see him after almost three days.

Today I...

did a lot of this.
And a lot of this.
Can you believe Daddy is still not home from golfing? That must be some tournament. I mean who plays golf all day and all night? We did go for a walk and enjoyed the cooler weather. Mommy says Daddy will be home tomorrow. I can't wait to see him. I'm all rested up and ready for some play time.

What are you doing this weekend?

Not so Fun on a Friday

We went for an early walkie this morning. Something's up here...we usually for for walkies after Daddy gets home from work. Golf clubs? This early? Are we going on a road trip, Mommy and Daddy?
Well Daddy is. What do you mean we can't come? Ok, fine, we'll stay home and play with Mommy.

Thankful Thursday

Four million is such a BIG number. We had no idea there were that many homeless dogs out there. We're so thankful that PEDIGREE is doing what they can to help all those wonderful pups who are waiting to find their furever homes.

For every blog that posts about the PEDIGREE Adoption Drive through September 19th, PEDIGREE will donate a bag of their new Healthy Longevity Food for Dogs to shelters nationwide. It's very simple: write a post, help a dog. How pawesome is that?!

Thursday, September 16 through September 19, the PEDIGREE BlogPaws bloggers will host a Blog Hop, to help raise awareness for the "Write a post, help a dog" effort.

That's it. Please share this with everybody. Write your own and go to Life With Dogs to leave a link to your post so Pedigree can find it and count it.

Thanks, everyone!!!

Sierra's Scoop

There once was a girl named Sierra,
who was fuzzy and white,
and wore thin black mascara.
Whenever she rested in her house,
it had to be somewhere soft,
like a bed or even a couch.
All day long she napped like Sleeping Beauty,
so all day long she could dream
of her favorite foodies.

P.S. Here is an update on what Mommy did with yesterday's harvest. She roasted the tomatoes and put them into the freezer for marinara sauce and tomato soup for the winter. She used the bell pepper for beef fajitas tonight. She shredded the zucchini for zucchini bread. And the cucumbers will go into a salad to be eaten at dinner.

Monday, September 13, 2010

Just before dinner...

Daddy brought in today's harvest. There were lots and lots of heirloom tomatoes, two cucumbers, one bell pepper, and one zucchini. This will keep Mommy busy for the next few days.
The weather has been cooling down a bit and we couldn't be happier. How is the weather where you live?

Week twenty nine in the garden

Our lettuce box is in full bloom. If you biggify this picture, you can see our thyme plant. It hasn't been doing too well. Do any of my friends have any advice on growing thyme?
Our butternut squash is slowly changing color.
As you can see, Mommy hasn't made any pesto yet.
The sweet potatoes are growing beautifully.
And so is this watermelon. I can't wait to eat it!
We still have lots of zucchini growing.
We are so happy to finally see jalapenos!!!
Daddy harvested these heirloom tomatoes tonight.
Mommy really needs to harvest some perilla and take it to Grandma so she can make something yummy.
